Rack Upgrades & Cable Management
Remediate poorly organized racks, improve equipment and patch-cable organization, manage cables and maintain clear identification.

DELIVERED MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME | SAUDI ARABIA
A two-year maintenance and upgrade programme supporting university campuses, colleges and connected data-centre infrastructure across multiple campus locations in Saudi Arabia. Future Bridges delivered technical work through another contractor, in coordination with the university’s IT team.
MAINTENANCE / REMEDIATION / UPGRADES
A two-year technical programme across university campuses and colleges, centered at the main campus and extending across regional campuses.
Future Bridges supported infrastructure maintenance and upgrades through another contractor, working alongside the university’s IT team. The scope covered campus facilities and connected data-centre environments across the main campus and three regional campus sites in Saudi Arabia.
Rack upgrades, cable organization, required new data runs, Cisco port-security support, IP-phone services, wireless access points and antenna maintenance formed part of the ongoing work. The programme also included complete infrastructure delivery for a dedicated academic college facility at the main campus.

THE TECHNICAL SCOPE
Work combined day-to-day infrastructure support with planned remediation and additional connectivity across university facilities.
Remediate poorly organized racks, improve equipment and patch-cable organization, manage cables and maintain clear identification.
Maintain the existing data and IP-phone cabling estate and install additional runs where operational requirements called for them.
Maintain authorized network connectivity and investigate ports blocked when personal or unexpected devices triggered access controls.
Support IP-phone services, connected ports and associated infrastructure as part of day-to-day campus operation.
Maintain Cisco wireless access points, install and maintain antennas, and support the connectivity needed across the campus estate.
Maintain infrastructure across colleges, campuses and regional data-centre environments connected to the central university IT data centre.
MULTI-CAMPUS ESTATE COVERAGE
Regional data centres and campus networks connected to the university’s central IT data centre at the main campus. The maintenance programme supported facilities and colleges across all four campus locations in Saudi Arabia.

REMEDIATION & ORGANIZATION
Existing racks and cable arrangements needed substantial attention. The work focused on restoring order to equipment, connections and cable routes so that the university’s IT team could maintain the environment more effectively.

THE EXISTING ESTATE / REQUIRED EXTENSIONS
The supported estate encompassed more than 4,000 data and IP-phone cabling runs across university facilities. This figure describes the infrastructure supported under the programme; additional required runs were installed where needed.

AUTHORIZED NETWORK ACCESS
Personal devices connected by staff or students could trigger existing port-security or network-access controls and block connectivity. The team investigated these incidents with the university’s IT staff, restored authorized data and IP-phone services and maintained the intended access policies.

CAMPUS WIRELESS SERVICES
The programme included ongoing maintenance of Cisco wireless access points and IP-phone systems, together with antenna installation and maintenance. Technical work supported the infrastructure required for smooth operation across the colleges and campus facilities.
WORKING-HOUR SERVICE CONTINUITY
Campus services remained available during working hours throughout the maintenance and upgrade work.
Tasks requiring a service interruption were planned after campus closure or on weekends. Work windows and technical activities were coordinated with the university’s IT team so that the required maintenance could proceed while protecting teaching and facility operations.

MAIN CAMPUS / COLLEGE INFRASTRUCTURE
The programme extended beyond maintaining existing systems. It also included complete infrastructure delivery for an academic college facility at the main campus, coordinated with the contractor and university IT team.
This work formed part of the wider campus infrastructure programme, alongside ongoing rack, cabling, network, phone and wireless support across university facilities.
Technology for education and campus environmentsA REPEATABLE OPERATING APPROACH
Review rack conditions, infrastructure faults and additional connectivity needs with the university IT team.
Agree the task and affected facilities. Schedule work needing interruption after campus closure or on weekends.
Organize racks, manage cabling, install required runs and support Cisco data, voice and wireless services.
Test affected connections and systems, resolve exceptions and confirm services are ready for campus operation.
Update labels, layouts, drawings and testing records, and provide training and operational handover.
DOCUMENTATION & IT-TEAM TRAINING
Testing, identification and technical records accompanied the maintenance and upgrade work.
The team provided testing reports, cable labels, rack layouts and drawings, together with university IT-team training and operational handover. This connected completed field work with the information needed to maintain the estate.
TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT
Cisco equipment formed the network, wireless and IP-phone environment. Antenna installation and maintenance were also included in the programme.
